Let the hiking re-commence!
Well back tracking a bit... So in my last post I was talking about running a 5k on Dec. 11 (which I did). I didn't do too bad (about 36 min) and now I'm pretty sure that I've gotten myself signed up for a 10k...yikes! Pictures:

All in all it was a great experience, and if nothing else is encouraging me to get out there and push myself! Matt and Kevin were great side line supporters and I hope I can do the next one!
On to hiking news:
My sister brought it to my attention this past weekend (actually it was monday) that we need to get hiking again. So, we started with what we know best, Castle Peak. Much better second time around making it to the top. From the base to the peak peak It took us just
about an hour, and that was with plenty of water breaks. Going down was about 30 min, so roughly 1.5 hours all around. I love this hike. I think it's great for many reasons: 1) it's super local 2) it can kick your butt, and 3) you have fantastic views of the valley (if you go on a sunny day). This past Monday 1/24 was beautiful, and we could see all the way to burbank if you can believe it!
So, with less than 120 days left to train, it's off to a new trail this weekend. I'm thinking top O' Reseda. If i'm remembering this correctly the trail is about 3 miles each way (so 6 round trip?). But I will be brining my handy dandy trail app with me to find out. Okay folks until next time!
